This project was all about personal development, tackling a variety of technical and creative challenges.
Juggling this personal project with my demanding role as Senior Tech Artist at RapidImages definitely stretched my time management skills. However, seeing progress on both fronts made it incredibly rewarding.
One hurdle I faced involved unfamiliar territory with the game character's movement mechanics. However, perseverance paid off! I successfully implemented the desired functionalities within the BP_GameController and animation Blueprints. This experience solidified the importance of continuous learning and persistent problem-solving in game development.
I created some images and videos that showcase key moments from my game project. These visuals highlight challenging situations I faced and how I overcame them, along with valuable discoveries that enhance the Unreal Engine experience.
I wasn't able to capture most of the key moments as I was busy solving them, but I hope it still offers valuable insights or inspires you to create your own game project!

Simple Fix for Pressure Plate Problem! This image shows the Blueprint controlling the pressure plate. See the "Objects on Plate" variable? This effective setup uses a counter to ensure the door only closes when nothing is on the pressure plate, even if items are dropped there.

One technique I wanted to try in Unreal Engine was seamless (well, almost seamless in this case) camera transitions from gameplay to cinematics. Although the animation could be further polished,I was excited to solve the Blueprint and figure out how to call/play sequences in-game.
Initially, I started with the Level Blueprint, but later decided to activate the sequence using the Pressure Plate for a more dynamic trigger.
